From a one-way ticket to America with just $200 in her pocket to founding a thriving tech company, Grace Ahn's entrepreneurial journey embodies the power of calculated risk-taking. The founder of NvisionKC, a premier minority and women-owned business specializing in process automation and

software development, transformed her initial challenges into stepping stones for success.

Landing in America in 1998 with limited English skills and no driving experience, Ahn began her journey as an intern earning $5.75 per hour. "I was so afraid of running out of money, and it was difficult to communicate my anxiety with anyone else," she recalls. The early days tested her resolve as she navigated basic tasks that many take for granted—rom learning to drive to mastering English through self-study. Yet, this vulnerability became the foundation of her future success, pushing her to develop the grit and determination that would later define her entrepreneurial spirit.

Throughout her early career, Ahn built a unique combination of skills that would prove invaluable. Her foundation in computer science provided technical expertise, while her experience in hospitality management honed her understanding of customer service and business operations. This dual

perspective gave her insights into both the technological and human aspects of business transformation.

When a layoff in 2019 disrupted her career path, Ahn saw an opportunity where others might have seen defeat. Instead of seeking another corporate position, she chose to bet on herself. Drawing from her diverse background and market observations, she launched NvisionKC in 2020, identifying a crucial gap in the tech industry. The timing, though challenging amid a global pandemic, proved strategic as businesses increasingly sought digital solutions to adapt to the new normal.

Under her leadership, NvisionKC has emerged as a specialized provider of technology solutions, focusing on streamlining operations through process automation, advanced analytics, and custom software development. The company's approach is distinctly holistic, addressing not just technical

requirements but the underlying business processes that drive them. "Oftentimes there is a disconnect between sales and the development team where information gets lost. We automate the business process," Ahn explains. This insight into organizational dynamics has enabled NvisionKC

to deliver solutions that bridge crucial operational gaps.

What sets NvisionKC apart is its commitment to understanding each client's unique challenges. The company's team, boasting over 100 years of combined experience, brings deep expertise across various industries. This wealth of knowledge allows them to adapt and customize solutions that address specific business needs rather than pushing one-size-fits-all approaches. "One customer at a time, I did my best," Ahn shares, highlighting the personalized approach that has become her company's hallmark.

As a certified minority and women-owned business, NvisionKC has broken through traditional barriers in the tech industry. The company has established itself as a trusted partner in digital transformation, combining cutting-edge technology with unparalleled customer service. Their success in delivering solutions across diverse industries nationwide speaks to the universal appeal of

their approach to technology implementation.

Beyond business metrics, Ahn ensures NvisionKC maintains a strong commitment to community development. The company actively supports initiatives that strengthen local communities while expanding their national footprint. This dedication to social responsibility reflects Ahn's belief in the

broader purpose of entrepreneurship. "You cannot buy fulfillment in the journey of entrepreneurship. To me, it's unthinkable to leave my customers and employees," she emphasizes. For aspiring entrepreneurs, particularly those facing similar challenges as immigrants or newcomers to any field, Ahn's message is clear: "As entrepreneurs, you have to fight the fear." Her journey from an intern making minimum wage to leading a successful tech company demonstrates that with determination, strategic thinking, and a people-first approach, significant obstacles can be overcome.
